Yesterday, on March 26, 2014, we broke another record with 24,685 visits.  We will keep working hard to make an important and valuable part of your Pathology practice.

CAP Press changed the links for their books.  We are in the process of updating them, and will announce when this is done soon.

25 March 2014: Case of Week #298 finally updated, power outage

Thanks to all who questioned the diagnosis of COW #298.  I apologize - I should also have questioned the diagnosis, but was backed up and "passed it through".  I pledge to be more careful in the future.  We are now requiring contributors to get another pathologist to approve the diagnosis.  To review the revised case, click here (diagnosis now Cryptococcus, not Histoplasma).  We should have the links corrected for this case on the Case of the Week pages by the end of the week.

Power was out today in our office, but should return tomorrow.  It didn't affect access to, just our telephones and daily updates to the website.  Sorry if we missed your call.

25 March 2014: Gyn Pathology book on sale

We received this email from Roger A. Reichert, M.D., Ph.D.:

My critically acclaimed gyn path book is on major sale at for the ridiculously low price of $52.98. It retails for $263.99 and typically sells on Amazon for about $225. If you have a way to spread the word about this sale to your Pathologyoutlines followers and/or other colleagues, that would be greatly appreciated. I don't expect this sale to last much longer.

Click here for more information or to order the book.

23 March 2014: New Updates Page

At the suggestion of Dr. Ari Leifer, we have introduced a new Updates page, which will list updates to the Surgical and Clinical Pathology textbook portion of, accessed from the center section of the Home Page. This includes new / updated topics by reviewers, new images, and updated / corrected information. It will NOT include changes to the pages which are not part of the textbook, such as the Jobs, Conference and Fellowship Pages and the Vendor pages.  Some of the news previously posted on this page will now be posted on the Updates page.

20 March 2014: Record traffic again, forum for pathology related questions.

Yesterday, March 19, 2014, we broke a new traffic record with 24,110 visits.

We received a comment about establishing a Forum for pathology related questions.  Is this needed, or does this already exist?  Let me know what you think.

12 March 2014: Links that open a new window

We received a comment at USCAP '14 that I wanted to respond to.  In general, links to images and references open a new window, instead of staying in the same window.  I understand that this is somewhat a matter of preference, but my experience is that this is preferred by most.  Of course, you have to close the new windows to avoid having dozens of open windows, but this is probably easier than clicking on the back button.

1 March 2014: Record traffic again

In February 2014, we again had record traffic, with a daily average of 18,323 visits, surpassing the prior record of 17,502 visits per day in October 2013.  The total traffic for February was 513,060 visits, less than the 542,590 visits in October 2013, which had 3 more days in the month.  In February 2014, we had 1.5 million page views, which is a lot but our usual number over the past 5 months.  The record was actually 1.7 million page views in December 2013.  Thanks for your support, and we welcome your suggestions on how to make even more useful to the Pathology community.
