29 August 2016: Amazon related charitable contributions

For the first half of 2016, we contributed $745 to the Flint Child Health & Development Fund.  This represents 10% of the funds we received because you shopped at Amazon.com through one of the Amazon.com links on our Website (Header or Footer text link, Books pages or Amazon banners).  For the second half of 2016, we will contribute to the Detroit College Promise Scholarship program which we started, now part of the Detroit Public School Foundation

19 August 2016: Seeking a New Author for Case of the Week Discussions

We are looking for a second author to write the Case of the Week discussions, so we can get ahead by several weeks, and are covered when one author goes on leave or has a busy period. You must be a staff pathologist and a good writer.

The advantages are getting known by the 6500+ subscribers to this feature, as well as $75 per case discussion. The initial time commitment is 2-3 hours per week. When we are caught up, it will be less.

If interested, contact Dr. Pernick at NatPernick@gmail.com, and attach your CV and a writing sample.

19 August 2016: New Management Article, plus New Product Announcements and Product Questionnaires for Antibodies and Laboratories

Earlier this week, we posted a link to a new article on our Management Page: "A Quick Look At The 2017 Proposed Medicare Fee Schedule", by Mick Raich, Vachette Pathology. We post new articles, provided by Vachette Pathology and AdvantEdge Healthcare Solutions every couple of weeks or as they become available.

New Product Announcements from BoardVitals and BioSB are now available for viewing and three (3) new Product Questionnaires have been posted under Antibodies /Biomarkers (BioMosaics and Agilent Technologies- Dako) and Laboratories (for specimens and second opinions (Machaon Diagnostics). 9 August 2016: Removal of Primary References

We are starting to remove the Primary References sections from the main Chapter pages, because they are usually out of date.  This section was helpful when an entire Chapter was written by the same author.  Now each topic in a chapter is written separately, and includes its own references.

9 August 2016: Pathologist Jobs Report for second quarter of 2016

We have now posted the Pathologist Jobs Report for the second quarter of 2016.  It begins:

For this quarter, there were 127 job postings for full time or part time pathologists at PathologyOutlines.com, which form the basis for the statistics below. This is a 35.1% increase from the 94 job postings in the second quarter of 2015. We have excluded postings that were only for locum, PhD, residency, fellowship or non-Pathologist positions. Of the 127 postings, 115 were for 1 position, 5 were for 2 positions, 1 was for 3 positions, and 6 were for an unspecified number of positions greater than one.  Rest of report.

8 August 2016: Reach the pathology market quickly and inexpensively with our Email newsletters

We offer companies and laboratories a great opportunity to reach Pathologists quickly and relatively inexpensively, by advertising in our various email newsletters.  These newsletters are received only by those who sign up for them, either online or at conferences.  This means the content, including your advertisement, is more likely to be read thoroughly.

We currently have 5 emailed newsletters:

Case of Week - sent 3 weeks per month and posted permanently - 6,559 subscribers
Commercial / Promotions - sent up to 2 times per month - 8,119 subscribers
Jobs, Fellowships, Conferences email - sent every 2 weeks - 4,715 subscribers
Website news email - sent monthly - 3,559 subscribers
What's New email - sent quarterly and posted permanently - 9,070 subscribers

Subscribers are removed if the emails are bad, so the counts, which are from 8/8/16, are valid.

3 August 2016: Now starting our 16th year

PathologyOutlines.com is now starting its 16th year of providing a free, no registration, pathology textbook for the pathology community.  My initial goal, other than getting the first chapter (Thyroid) written, was to average 200 visits per day.  Now, we are over 20,000 visits per day, or over 14,000 Google analytic sessions per day.  Thanks for your support, and please let us know what we can do to make the website more useful to you.

3 August 2016: New Management Article, plus New CME, New Product Announcements and Product Questionnaires for Education

Earlier today, we posted a link to another new article on our Management Page: "Is Your Outdated Fee Schedule Leaving Money On The Table?", by Mick Raich, Vachette Pathology. We post new articles, provided by Vachette Pathology and AdvantEdge Healthcare Solutions. The next article will be available for viewing in a couple of weeks.

Last week, we posted information about 3 new CME courses that ARUP Laboratories is offering, and a New Product Announcement from ASCP is now available, too.

In case you missed it, we now have an Education/ CME Product Questionnaire page. On it are banners from current corporate advertisers that have Education/ CME to offer and you can view the product questionnaire that BoardVitals returned to us last month.

1 August 2016: Combining Cervix and Cervix-cytology chapters

We are in the process of combining the Cervix and Cervix-Cytology chapters, with each topic to contain information on both H&E and cytology diagnoses, as applicable.  Right now, the Table of Contents contains separate topics for H&E and cytopathology, but they will be combined when updated.
