We have now posted the Pathologist jobs report for the first quarter of 2016, click here.  It begins:

For this quarter, there were 131 job postings for full time or part time pathologists at PathologyOutlines.com, which form the basis for the statistics below. This is a 15.9% increase from the 113 job postings in the first quarter of 2015. We have excluded postings that were only for locum, PhD, residency, fellowship or non-Pathologist positions. Of the 131 postings, 124 were for 1 position, 5 were for 2 positions, 1 was for 3 positions, and 1 was for an unspecified number of positions greater than one.

Rest of report.

22 April 2016: New Comment Feature

In response to visitor requests, we have added a new Comment link to the Header and the Footer of every page, and even the Mobile pages.  It knows the existing page you are at, so just let us know what you think, and give us your email address so we can respond.

22 April 2016: Use of Books page Search feature

We have upgraded the Search feature of our Books page, so it now will find those authors whose last names have only 2 letters (An, Ho, Hu, Jo, Ko, Le, Lo, Ma, Ro, Ru, Wu, Yu).  Names listed on the Title pages as De Vos, de Lutio or similarly, are searched by typing the entire name, with the space.

We include, for no charge, all books of interest to Pathologists posted at Amazon.com since 2012, and selected books before then (currently 1317 books).  Books not posted at Amazon.com can be included for a modest fee - contact Sara at PathOutSales@gmail.com for more information on paid listings, or other advertisements for books.  If you are an author, please check that we have all of your books.  If you love pathology books, make sure your favorite books are listed.  Contact Dr. Pernick at NatPernick@gmail.com with any questions.

18 April 2016: Website security changes

On 13 April 2016, our website went down for about 1 hour, unfortunately during the middle of the day.  On 18 April 2016, we implemented a recommended security fix which gave our website a new DNS (Internet location).  However, unknown to us, this also caused the website to be down until the new location was picked up by various Internet service providers (for future reference, a backup URL is http://pathologyoutlines.com, the same URL without www).  In hindsight, we should have implemented this change on a weekend.  We are sorry for any inconvenience.

On 20 April 2016, there were some lingering issues, which may cause some temporary down time.  They appear to be resolved, but we are monitoring.  If you get an error, please try clearing the cache / history, and try again (that works for us).  We are also considering some global changes to prevent these types of problems in the future, and speed up the website even during normal times.

18 April 2016: Renal vs. GU

Thanks to Dr. Zynger on our Editorial Board for helping us correctly distinguish Renal from GU, particularly for books.  We have now correctly sorted the books, as well as our Cases.  Renal refers to Medical Renal, or kidney related conditions typically not involving tumors, such as infections, glomerular and tubular diseases, even when they form a mass.

7 April 2016: Charity contribution for First Quarter of 2016

Each quarter, PathologyOutlines.com contributes 10% of income derived from our Amazon affiliate relationship to a charity.  You can support these efforts by purchasing from Amazon.com, and using the links on any of our pages.  For the first quarter of 2016, we received $3,789.07 from Amazon.com related sales, and forwarded $379.00 to the Flint Child Health & Development Fund, which helps deal with the aftermath of the lead poisoning caused by our Governor's actions.

For the second quarter of 2016, we will be contributing to the Detroit College Promise Scholarship Fund at the Detroit Public School Foundation.  PathologyOutlines.com sponsored the Detroit College Promise from its inception in 2008 until July 2015, when it merged this program into the DPS Foundation, to assure long term stability and greater capacity to award scholarships.  For the 2015-16 college academic year, we awarded 183 scholarships.  We are pleased that for the 2016-17 college academic year, almost 1000 students have applied for scholarships, reflecting the great work done by the DPS Foundation staff.  For that reason, it is especially important that all who support public education support these efforts.  Besides purchasing from Amazon.com (using our links), you can donate specifically to this effort by clicking here.  For questions, contact Dr. Pernick at NatPernick@gmail.com or the DPS Foundation at (313) 873-3348.
