13 May 2015: New addition to Jobs Statistics summary report for 2014 - days posted

We have now added information about the mean, median and range of days that ads were posted on the Jobs page of PathologyOutlines.com.  For 2014, here is the additional information:

In 2013, we started keeping track of how long jobs were posted until they were removed. We remove ads when (a) the advertisers contact us and request removal, (b) we contact the advertisers (beginning 3-4 months after posting) and they request removal, or (c) the ads expire. Since we remove many ads at expiration, we cannot report totals until 182 days (nonacademic) or 365 days (academic) have elapsed since the ads were posted.

For academic jobs, we can only report ads from Q1 2014, due to the requirement that 365 days have lapsed. There were 20 ads, posted for a mean 226 days (median 208 days, range 67-365 days). If we remove the ads that continued until the expiration date, there were 13 ads, posted a mean 151 days (median 127 days, range 67-236 days).

For nonacademic jobs, we can only report ads from Q1, Q2 and Q3 2014, due to the requirement that 182 days (6 months) have lapsed. For Q1 2014, there were 39 ads, posted for a mean 140 days (median 154 days, range 32-182 days). If we remove the ads that continued until the expiration date, there were 22 ads, posted a mean 108 days (median 106 days, range 32-165 days).

For nonacademic jobs for Q2 2014, there were 39 ads, posted for a mean 130 days (median 164 days, range 22-182 days). If we remove the ads that continued until the expiration date, there were 23 ads, posted a mean 94 days (median 86 days, range 22-180 days).

For nonacademic jobs for Q3 2014, there were also 39 ads, posted for a mean 147 days (median 182 days, range 30-182 days). If we remove the ads that continued until the expiration date, there were 17 ads, posted a mean 101 days (median 103 days, range 30-170 days).
