24 December 2014: Do we owe you any money?

Does PathologyOutlines.com owe you any money for being a reviewer or contributing a Case of the Week that was posted?  If we have not contacted you this month about payment, please let us know as soon as possible, by email to NatPernick@hotmail.com or telephone at 248/646-0325.

18 December 2014: Next steps

Now that our new Home Page has been completed, we are thinking of the next steps.  We will work on a new template for the Topic and Chapter pages.  It will be similar, but more consistent, and with a cleaner look.  It will also be easier to modify when necessary.  After that, we will work on templates for mobile devices, to improve the usability on these devices  - right now, there is too much text on the screen to easily read.

18 December 2014: Subscribe / Unsubscribe option fixed

We have fixed an error in the Constant Contact Subscribe / Unsubscribe.  Previously, you could only unsubscribe to all newsletters.  Now, you can choose which of the 5 newsletters to receive / not receive (PathologyOutlines: Case of Week, Jobs / Fellowships / Conferences, Website News; Detroit College Promise: General, Volunteer).

Let us know if you have any questions.

We have fixed all the known problems with the new Home Page (the Uterus chapter was "found").   Let us know what you think.

15 December 2014: Missing Uterus chapter

Somehow it got lost.  We will fix the Home Page tomorrow, but the link is http://www.pathologyoutlines.com/uterus.html.  Sorry for any inconvenience.

Update on 16 December 2014 - now fixed!

15 December 2014: New Homepage

Our new Home Page is up!  Sorry for any down time, but we are glad it was brief.  We will be testing for the next few days, but let us know what you think about the new Home Page, and if you find any errors.  We changed, to some extent, 8000 pages, so it may take a while to iron out all the kinks.  Most pages should look the same, but have a different internal structure.

12 December 2014: New Homepage Monday - Expect some Down Time

Next Monday, December 15, 2014, for the first time since our website was launched in August 2001, we will have a few hours of scheduled down time, most likely in the late morning / early afternoon.  If you access the site during this time, you will receive an error message, which will disappear when the website is back up.  We apologize for any inconvenience.  There will also be a delay in any new postings received after 3 pm today (Eastern time) until our new structure is in place on Monday.

This weekend, our computer consultant will copy all 8200+ files (chapter and topic pages and other pages) and put them into a database.  On Monday, we will launch our new Home Page, which should have all the same links, but in a cleaner format.  Each of the other files (excluding images) will be stored and retrieved from the database, but for the near future, they should look and operate exactly the same.  Ultimately with this new structure, we will have more uniform pages, better formatting for mobile devices, and a robust topic search capability.

Please contact us with any questions.

11 December 2014: Jobs price increase

As of January 1, 2015, the cost to post a Pathologist/PhD ad will increase slightly to $850, for posting until filled or up to 6 months (12 months for academic positions).  We are happy that traffic to our Jobs page continues to grow and that we are able to provide this service to the pathology community.  Our advertisers say:
"Yes, we had a good response. Greatly appreciate your service." Ms. S, California, 9 December 2014

"Our main pathologist says this is the only site that a pathology job should be posted on!" Ms. J, Indiana, 20 November 2014

"Thank you, Joy. The ad looks good and we have already gotten an application for this position from it. Thank you for all your help with our position advertising." Ms. S, Oklahoma, 20 November 2014

For more testimonials, please click here.

The cost for non-pathologist laboratory jobs remains the same, a discounted rate of $325 for posting for up to 6 months (free if purchased at the same time as a Pathologist ad).

10 December 2014: Changes for 2015

Starting January 1, 2015, we will no longer mail checks outside of the United States and Canada to reviewers / case contributors, and instead will be making these payments only through PayPal.  We are making this change because unfortunately, we have had repeated problems with receipt of checks outside the US and Canada, which takes a substantial amount of time for our small staff to sort out.  We will send payment, via PayPal, to any email address designated by the reviewer / case contributor.

The other important issue for reviewers / contributors from outside the US is that the US government requires us to withhold 30% of the amount, and forward it to them.  This is not a new policy, but some people may not be aware of it.

Thanks again to all of our reviewers / contributors.  We are trying to make the process as simple as possible for all involved.

1 December 2014: Get ready for our new Home Page

We are proofreading changes to our new Home Page.  All of the old links will be there, but they will be rearranged to make them a little easier (we hope) to access and to provide a cleaner look.  At this time, ONLY the Home page is being changed.  Underlying the new Home Page is a new Content Management System ("computer infrastructure"), which will create more uniformity on the pages, and allow for a Topic Search for the site.
